At Al Thabiah Sweets, we have been taking custom cake orders in Abu Dhabi since 1999, and in that time we have made cakes that looked like cars, cakes built around graduation photos, birthday cakes shaped to match a child’s favorite cartoon, and three-tier wedding designs that guests talked about long after the event ended.

A lot of shops call a cake “customized” when they add a name in frosting. That is not what we mean here. A proper custom cake starts from scratch — the shape, the size, the flavor, the decoration, the color palette, and the finish are all chosen by you or designed by our team based on what you describe.
At Al Thabiah, custom cake orders go through our in-house bakers and decorators who handle everything from concept to delivery. No outsourcing, no generic templates pulled off a design sheet. When you order a cake from us, you get something made specifically for that occasion, that person, and that day.
3D cakes are probably the most requested category we get for custom orders. These are cakes shaped to look like a real object — a handbag, a football, a car, a sneaker, a book, a camera. The structure is built with cake layers and internal supports, then covered and detailed with fondant by hand.
3D customized cakes take longer to make than standard cakes because of the construction involved, so we ask customers to place these orders at least 5 to 7 days in advance. The results, though, are the kind of cakes that get photographed before they get cut.
Birthday cakes are our most common custom order. What makes them “custom” versus off-the-shelf comes down to personalization — a specific photo, a theme that matches the birthday person's interests, a color that fits the party setup, or a flavor combination not on the standard menu.
We do custom birthday cakes for all ages — first birthdays, kids' parties, teenage milestones, adult birthdays, and surprise gifts for husbands, wives, mothers, and friends. If you want the cake to say something specific, look a certain way, or arrive at midnight, we handle all of that.
Character cakes are a separate category we get a lot of for children's birthdays and themed events. These are cakes built around a specific character or theme — Barbie, Unicorn, Frozen, Avengers, cartoon figures, and similar designs. The decoration is done in fondant or edible print, depending on the level of detail required.
Theme cakes work differently — instead of one central character, the entire cake follows a visual theme. A garden theme, a galaxy theme, a football pitch, a princess castle. These work well for birthday parties where the cake table is a focal point of the setup.
Designer cakes focus on the finish and aesthetic over a specific character or shape. Clean fondant surfaces, hand-painted details, edible metallic accents, floral decorations, marble effects, and layered textures — these are for people who want a cake that looks like a piece of art. Popular for milestone birthdays, engagements, and corporate events in Abu Dhabi.

Photo cakes use edible printing to place an image directly onto the cake surface. A family photo, a portrait of the birthday person, a collage, a logo for a corporate celebration — any image you send us can go onto the cake as an edible print.
Photo cakes are one of our faster custom options. The print quality is sharp, the colors hold well, and it is one of the most personal touches you can add to a birthday cake without going into a full bespoke design. Minimum order time is 24 to 48 hours.
Graduation is one of those occasions where the cake actually carries meaning. We get graduation cake orders year-round in Abu Dhabi, covering school completions, university graduations, and professional certifications. These are usually personalized with the graduate's name, the year, their institution, or their field of study.
A graduation cake can be as simple as a two-tier decorated cake with the graduate's name and cap, or as involved as a 3D design shaped around their degree or a hobby they are moving on from. We have done both.
Two-tier and three-tier cakes are ordered for bigger celebrations — milestone birthday parties, gender reveals, large family gatherings, and events where a single-layer cake is not enough. Each tier can carry a different flavor, and the decoration can be as minimal or detailed as you want.

Our team comes back to you with a quote and, if needed, a rough design outline. For 3D cakes and complex designs, we may ask a few follow-up questions before confirming. Once you approve, we lock in the order.
On the agreed date, your cake is baked fresh, decorated in our kitchen, and delivered to your address in Abu Dhabi. We do not prepare custom cakes in advance and store them — every order goes out fresh.
Custom cakes — especially 3D designs and tier cakes — need more careful handling during delivery than standard cakes. We pack all our custom orders to account for transport, and we deliver across Abu Dhabi including home addresses, hotels, event venues, and offices.
For time-sensitive deliveries like birthday surprises, we offer midnight delivery on custom orders when arranged in advance. Same-day custom cake delivery is possible on certain designs if you contact us early enough — call to confirm before placing the order online.
Our custom cake orders come from all directions. Mothers ordering for children’s birthday parties, husbands planning anniversary surprises, offices ordering for employee milestones, parents ordering graduation cakes, friends sending photo cakes as gifts.
